Petition Hasbro to Make Show-Accurate Plushes!

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 22, 2012, 1:36 AM

Hello Bronies and plush-lovers alike! Today is a special day because we are launching a petition for Hasbro to create show-accurate plushies for all of us out there who can't afford a $400 plush. While we love custom plush makers here on deviantArt, most of us would die to have a beautiful plush doll lovingly crafted to look like our favorite characters. Unfortunately, the majority of us cannot afford to dole out hundreds of dollars for show-accurate plush doll. That is why we've started a petition asking Hasbro to make more show-accurate plushes for all the fans of MLP. If you agree, sign the petition! We hope to reach Hasbro in a way that only the fans of the incredibly popular My Little Pony could.

All it takes is your First Name, Last Name, Email, and basic Address information. All your information is kept private unless you state you'd like your signature to be shown publicly. You are automatically signed up when you sign the petition, but you may delete your account at any time, and may keep your information private. Change.org is a highly trusted site, so your information will be safe when you sign the petition.

That being said, sign our petition! Help us Bronies get the show-accurate plushies we deserve!

This makes me think of the 'war on drugs!'. If one party finally comes to realization that they could be doing something ACTUALLY GOOD, another party will probably go bankrupt.
By this logic, Hasbro would be raking in millions more in stock, while allot of plush makers would start to lose profits simply because the cheaper alternative is already ready and in your hands for maybe even half the price.

Either way, good luck to you all, the yeses, and the nos.

That and, y'know, this has become a lucrative market for the independent artists on here and elsewhere. Plus if you request one done from one of them, the pose will be what you asked it to be.

I would just like to point out that the word "Petition" has negative connotations, and upon seeing this, Hasbro may have that no-so-eager-to-even-consider-this-attitude.

Diplomacy in these matters is everything.

I'm all for the idea, but suggesting, or requesting them to make plushies, may be better than presenting them a document that basically says "WE'RE YOUR FANS, WE DEMAND YOU DO THIS, BECAUSE OF THAT FACT"

Just my two cents.

Did you even read the petition? It hardly has demanding language. I think the petition IS the suggesting/requesting.

I think it's a good thing to let a company know how much interest there is for a specific item. At worst they will just ignore the petition, but there is no harm.

I did, yo're just not listening to me.

I did not say the petition itself is demanding, I said the term "petition" is negative, and when companies hear it, they usually don't even bother reading it.

Look, do what you want, my words of experience are useless here I see.

I'm 23 years old and I kind of want to think that I can still draw a few logical conclusions even if I'm not a professional...

I just disagree with you on this one SPECIFIC matter of petitions having a negative connotation.

I respect if you don't like petitions, but the idea that the word petition carries a common stigma to it (even if only among companies) doesn't make sense to me.

Do companies really not want to hear what people might pay money for? Would a company suddenly not do something even if they did feel their customers were being annoyingly demanding? You can still make money from over-demanding jerks right?

If I'm wrong about this, then I don't understand what a business/company is.

You can disagree with me all you want, doesn't make me any less right.

I'm the one with experience on this matter. I'm kindly warning you of the implications this has. "Petition" is when you do NOT agree with a company, and is a DEMAND that they stop doing whatever it is that is pissing everyone off.

Hasbro is ALREADY making plushes. They have been for a long time now. This is not only an oxymoron because you are unknowingly using a negative movement to try to encourage a positive outcome, its also overkill. They're already making plushes. Just be patient.

At the very least, it will leave a bad impression of the Brony community, and I think we all know that we have enough bad publicity. We don't need to be attracting more, and this will attract more.

Shush!
There are plenty of willing and affordable plush makers here!
Take me for example! I charge 30 dollars for just about ANY pony, regardless of cannon or Oc.
You may be putting us out of some customers. D:

I actually don't support this idea. I love the idea of plushies being more accessible, but not at the cost of putting independent creators out.

They are not official yet. They'er just prototypes. But even so they have a hell of a better design than the earlier plushies did. They are making progress and I think its best not to bother them.

^ my thoughts exactly. That and, even though I tried explaining this, the word Petition has negative connotations. When a company hears that one is coming, they usually don;t even read it, or they do, and don't bother following anything in it.

A petition to a company is like a whining child is to an annoyed babysitter.

But of course, nobody listens to me, even though I've experienced this kind of crap first hand before. :iconverynotimpressedplz:

That's fine though, I'll have a good laugh when it blows up in their faces.

Yeah. You should look at the comment I made up top, that TwistedCoil person... just wow. :iconverynotimpressedplz:

That's the kind of arrogant member that gives this site its bad reputation for being a drama hub. All I did was offer my experience, but because its not something they're happy to hear, its just "my opinion."

Don't pay any attention to that little blurb at the top of my comments that says "Professional General Artist", oh no, that woud be expecting too much.

What derpy thing? I'll admit I'm behind on what happens. I only go as far as watching the show and liking fanart. I try not to associate myself with too much of the "inner circle" if you will, of this fandom--specifically for these kinds of people.

Also, go check out my latest reply. I beat him with pure logic.

i make plushies and i dont charge that much. I havent posted any of mine, but ill do ocs too.. i dont understand why ppl would charge 400$ for a custom plushie. that aggravates me too. i bought a RD plushie from walmart n i hate her mane, but hey wont change it. i suggest you find someone to make your plushie that doesnt charge and arm and leg. unless S&H is uber expensive.. it shouldnt be 400$

When a person pays from a 100 dollars to 2,000 (and IŽve seen it happen) for a product, are they really paying only for it to be very similar to the cartoon? or are they also paying for a hand made product which is also unique?. Even myself, when I try to make a plushie I previously made it will not be 100 the same each one is unique.
Even though Hasbro makes ponies who look a lot more like the cartoon, people are going to keep on buying custom plushies. why? because they are paying for something unique that noone else is going to have, and they know it.
IŽve had both experiences, people who find my prices not to their liking, and those who seem really happy and pay gladly, because they apreciate the work we do. They are looking for just that, that the plushie they are buying is original, and unique. And some other times they are looking for a plushie made by their favourite artist. They are paying for the Art no for the fact that they are more similar to the cartoon.

Also: guys. They've been making plushes like that since time began. You think just because you're obsessed, they're obligated to give you whatever you ask for? What about the plastic ponies? Are you happy just chopping off their hair to make them look right? While you're at it, why don't you ask them to make Rainbow Dash with a rainbow tail, too? Or they can just all have molded plastic hair! Who cares about their original purpose as BRUSHABLE toys?
I mean, seriously, I love the ponies and I (sometimes) love this fandom, but you're crossing the line here.
