Gender Equality Project/Competition

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 19, 2014, 11:45 AM
:new: EDIT: The deadline has been extended until the 4th of February at 10pm UK time because I forgot to specify the time zone in the first journal. I'm sorry for this blunder.  :new:

Too many negative gender stereotypes are around. All these false pretenses about masculinity and femininity are damaging to everybody in the long run. Like how women shouldn't do working roles seen as male roles which require "manly" strength, or how men should not ever show emotion, play with dolls or do anything seen as girly. There's a long list of things for both men and women but in the interest of not writing something a mile long let's leave it here.

Now with that bit over, here's what the actual competition is.

Your task is to draw a pony or ponies destroying something symbolic of any gender stereotype. The way you choose to do that is entirely up to you. When I say destroy something symbolic I don't mean like setting fire to a book I mean like... metaphorically destroy. Although if you want to take it literally and make ponies smash stuff you can if you want.

Prizes up for grabs

5 of my favourite submissions will win a 3 month premium membership. Yes. 5.

How do I submit?

You paste a link or a thumb in to the comments section of this journal.

The following things are allowed.

OCs, multiple entries, ponies from the show. Traditional, digital, old pictures.

The following things are not allowed

Humanized ponies, non-pony creatures unless there's at least one pony in the picture.

Final Comments

Gender stereotypes aren't good for anybody. Individuality and equality are better. What sex or gender you are shouldn't be a limiting factor on what you want to do in life. Also, have fun. :D

I hope to see some interesting creations and some imagination in use.

and what of destroying the stereotypes about stereotypes? *a man can be manly if wants, doesn't have to wear hearts on sleeves but be the rock for others, while still feeling inwardly.  And a female can still enjoy working in kitchens or with food.
(Or men in heavy construction NOT being homo, lolz)

Funny how many stereotypes that go both ways, that someone 'cant or shouldn't' do something because its a "stereotype" XD

But yeah, for one being male and NOT homo to enjoy anything wanted, why shouldn't we be allowed to watch MLP? ;p
And fathers are just as important & able to be nurturing without the "MrMom" bs.
Funny thing most of the stereotyping that is harmful now days is 'anti-male'/'anti-masculine', that if a MAN wants to 'play the field' outside of those one or two areas of sports or labor, then "He MUST be gay or such" -_(\

A chick on the other hoof is being "adventurous" or "making way for equal rights", like anyone should care that they just trying to do the same like anybody else so many times over already been doing.
(oh, but since she's another Female then it bucking matters somehow lolz)

LuLz, yeah... so much stereotype crap out there and mere Talk about 'equality' yet no regard for equity :D

More of a marriage equality theme than a gender discrimination theme.
