IntroductionGood afternoon, Fillies and Gentle-colts. I come to you all today with a simple proposal. Many of you may remember a few months ago, I ran a similar contest for the cover of a fan-fic that I wrote. Recently, I've finished that endeavor, and have begun writing its sequel. In this case, however, we are hoping to run the contest prior to the impending release of the story's first two chapters and prologue. Of course, we wouldn't be arrogant enough to not give you a good idea of the fic. The story is primarily an adventure story, with a bit of shipping.
Synopsis:It has been three years since a rogue Draconequus threatened the stability of Equestria, and a further three since the defeat of Nightmare Moon. Since then, life has settled for even Equestria's newest resident, Goldenrod. However, following a bizarre celestial event, Twilight Sparkle has received not just a quest from Princess Celestia, but one that has the fate of the Mother of all Alicorns in the balance. If they fail, it's not just the mother of the Alicorns that will die; so will all Alicorns. The fate of Equestria rests in the hooves of Twilight Sparkle and a select few from what has become colloquially known to those involved as the Morrigan Affair, and those hoof-picked by Princess Celestia.

As far as what to make, I can provide a few suggestions. By all means, though, keep in mind that these are only suggestions.
The initial cover idea was something matching the style of Displaced's cover, perhaps a book like this sticking out of a sand dune.Another option might be the Goldenrod, Twilight, Scootaloo and Braeburn standing on a stone outcropping, overlooking something opposite of the image's perspective, clad in desert garb and goggles [see Additional Data].At the suggestion of one of my readers, another suggestion is the cast gathered around a campfire at night.
Appendices1: Higher resolution images are encouraged, as your cover will also be an advertisement of your work, meaning if you're looking to commission work, this is the way to get attention.
2: The primary cast includes Goldenrod, Scootaloo, Twilight Sparkle, Braeburn, Apple Bloom
3: Many ponies may take this for granted, but this contest is just as much for fun as it is for prizes and notoriety. We don't want you stressing yourself about this to the point where you can no longer enjoy yourself.
All submissions should be submitted to the "Fan-fiction Cover Contest" folder and in for August 31st, as judging will take place on the 2nd of September.

This occurs three years after the events of Displaced. All three of the original Cutie Mark Crusaders are well on their way to growing up, already having gotten their cutie marks. Scootaloo has earned an eagle for her bravery in the end of Displaced. Apple Bloom has become an aspiring tinkerer and inventor, earning an apple-shaped beaker.
