Apology to MLP-FiM

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 18, 2012, 2:09 PM

I sockhidunderaboulder jumped to conclusions from rumor about Wooden-Flashlight and the MLP-FiM admins based on comments being given to me from people in chat.

They are not exploiting anybody, they are merely offering a service that people pay points for if they chose too. No guns are being pointed at heads. Stating that they were keeping the points for themselves rather than for their group was also false and based on rumor.  MLP-FiM as a whole are NOT taking the points for themselves, they are going back into the group via a contest.

I took things I was told way too seriously and flew off the handle. I'm very sorry. This does not mean that I think that the ad space thing is a good idea, I don't but still I didn't need to get nasty about it. They're not some crazy people taking advantage of their members for personal gain. I'm not going to try and make an excuse for myself what I did was wrong. I'll be sure to be more diplomatic in future.

Skin is by reshiiram.

So many mixed comments. I'm not sure what to do. I'm a bit confused.

It's for each person to decide on their own. Some are offended that a bar is being set here while others know there is nothing forcing anyone to do it. Ultimately, it doesnt matter anymore. All the slots were filled.

Eh, I just left the group. If weath is seriously what you need to get featured. Then I'd rather leave.

What annoys me most about the whole thing is that instead of quality being the deciding factor, it is now wealth. This sets up an unfair hierarchy that depreciates the value of deserving art and artists. It's simply buying views. My soul isnt worth that.

Here's my life advice - If it's something you can't personally change, apathy is magic.

Moral: kids! Do your research!

Now, seriously, while I don't remember exactly how this went, one always should make sure about the information (being art stealing, rumors, etc) before starting a war. And congratulations for being so civil!

(Personally, I consider a pay-per-feature a waste of points, since for me, it's the thumbnail what makes me click it, not the fact that it has been featured. Or might be the fact that I don't have points to spend :P)

I honestly don't blame you, after reading exactly what was going on I think I'm gonna leave MLP-FiM. Large membership to get your art shown to, but stuff like selling features seems a bit too much like it being a for-profit corporate page or something, even, if as indeed claimed, Wooden Flashlight is using these points for contests.

I have no idea what is going on here.
